C.E.D.G Competition RULES

it is required for all Unaffiliated/Affiliated Dressage Competitions that riders are aware and understand the rules.

In addition to BRITISH DRESSAGE RULES the following apply.

1. The gate on entry/exit must be closed at all times - for your safety.

2. NO DOGS ALLOWED. No dogs are allowed on the show centre at any time. Not even in the vehicle. Dogs must not be carried on the show centre to outside the gates. Aid dogs only.

3. Instructions from the parking attendant/ collecting ring steward / any other official person must be adhered to.

4. Rubbish must be disposed of correctly in the bins provided.

5. Any antisocial behaviour ie, shouting, swearing, offensive behaviour is not allowed.

6. The welfare of the horse is paramount. Any misuse of equipment or distress to the horse is forbidden. Persons are encouraged to bring cruelty to the attention of the organiser.

7. Only the rider who is entered to ride the horse in the test is allowed to ride the horse at any time at the competition.

8. A maximum of six competitors are allowed in the collecting arena at any one time.

9. The 'left hand to left hand' rule applies.

10. Spectators must not stand in the gateway of the main arena. The viewing areas must be used for safety. Riders must make their spectators aware prior to the test beginning other wise the rider will not be allowed to compete at future competitions.

11. Withdrawals are allowed up to the competition date. There are no refunds after the closing date. Withdrawals prior to the closing date are entitled to half the entry fee when applied in writing and postmarked prior to the closing date.

12. NO LUNGING - anywhere on the showground including the field used for trailer parking.

13. In order to keep the competition running smoothly please could riders be aware that the 45 second rule applies. Riders who fail to begin their test 45 seconds after the judge has rung the bell are open to elimination at the judges discretion.

14. Only SNAFFLE bits which are permitted by BD and listed in the BD rule book are allowed. BD rules are available at all competitions. WILKIE SNAFFLES are NOT allowed. Using any forbidden bit will result in elimination.

15. Only tack specified in the BD rulebook is allowed. Martingales, brushing boots, bandages are not permitted during the test, including neck straps form Novice level upwards. Riders who begin their test wearing any forbidden tack is eliminated from the test.

16. The use of the riders voice, clicking or making a sound to influence the performance will result in 2 marks deducted for each time it occurs.

17. All schedules / fees are subject to change. The organiser reserves the right to alter, change, amend or cancel any event or part of without explanation.
