Affiliated Dressage Competitions

Welcome..... please enjoy browsing through the affiliated details but please don't be put off. If you are used to affiliated competitions the rulings can be a little difficult to digest - stick with it or ask.

All competitions are held at Middleton Park Equestrian Centre, Leeds LS11 5TZ

Just as the Unaffiliated Competitions the Affiliated Competitions are held at the fabulous Middleton Park Equestrian Centre based on the outskirts of Leeds Centre.

The venue boasts two lovely well maintained indoor arenas, spectacular viewing gallery, hot and cold refreshments, heated score area, toilets, hard standing parking, manned parking areas and stewarded collecting areas.

The test arena has mirrors, flower pots and background music.

Since the photographs have been taken flower pots and the V shaped arena boards have been intoduced as has background music and a microphone which can be used if you require your tests read.

At all competitions C.E.D.G provide items that we feel may be of interest to competitors or their friends.

To purchase on the day are items like the BD Test Sheets in current use, The BD Rule book, BD Test Folders and many other interesting items.

Any entry which is received after the closing date published in the British Dressage Magazine which displays the relevant schedule and does not include a late entry fee riders will be allowed to compete but the score and test sheet will withheld until the late entry fee per test is paid for in full - with no exceptions.

Entry for registered horses/riders must be done by the BD method of entry.

Entry Fee - Prelim - Medium £15 Advanced Medium £20

Late entry - £3 per test as per rules - please make yourself aware of the late entry payment.

Withdrawals -
we are strictly enforcing Rules 37 & 38 regarding withdrawals, please make yourself aware from the 2008 BD rule book what this entails.

Please Note - as from 1st Jan 08 C.E.D.G running BD competitions are strictly enforcing the following -

- The closing date for all affiliated dressage competitions remain 14 days prior to the competition.

- Entries received after the close of entries are liable for a late entry fee of £3 per class.

- NO entry will be accepted within 5 days of the competition start; last acceptance is 6 dates before the competition.

Preliminary 16 - amended and re numbered Preliminary 19 (20x60)

Novice 21 amended & re numbered Novice 28 (20x40)

Elementary 41 amended & re numbered Elementary 42 (20x40)

RULE 6 - qualification for the Summer/Winter Regional at Prelim - Medium has been changed. Prelim will require one win in a qualifier plus either another win or a second place. Novice - Medium will require two wins in qualifiers. There is no change to percentages.

RULE 21 - Riders in Group 7 & 8 riding horses with no points will be eligible for Introductory Tests (walk & trot)

RULE 34 a(v) - A horse may only be ridden once in any class (with the exception to 'pick a test' classes where the horse may be ridden more than once in different tests within the class.)

RULE 34 m - If a class is over subscribed, preference will be given to those not already qualified.

RULE 39 - Hors Concours ... horse and rider must be registered with BD and must comply with BD rules apart from eligibility.

RULE 40 - The number of prizes given and the amount, or type of prize if in kind must be stated in the schedule and is unrestricted.

Frequently asked questions -

Hi, I am Joanne, the organiser, I am often asked questions regarding the BD competitions from riding in with a exercise sheet in winter to what the class ticket, open/restricted sections mean etc so hopefully be puting the questions out I am able to help those only at the "I wonder what that means" stage.

If you have not found the answer to the question you have please let me know. Hope this has been useful. Jo

* Q1 - What do I have to do to qualify for the Regional Championships (aka - Semi's)?

At Preliminary,
Riders must be members of BD to enable them to ride in the qualifying test at the competition.
Horses do not need to be registered.
Horses must have not won more than 49 points at close of entries.
To compete at the regionals horses and riders must be registered before the regionals.
Once qualified horses may compete in the Regionals even if they have gained further points.
Riders must be Group 7/8 riders at close of entries for the regionals.
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE SUMMER/WINTER REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HORSES MUST BE PLACED 1ST IN ONE QUALIFIER AND 1ST OR 2ND IN ANOTHER QUALIFIER WITH 65% OR ABOVE RIDDEN BY A GROUP 7 OR 8 RIDER.

At Novice -
Group 1 & 2A riders may not take part in qualifiers.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE SUMMER/WINTER REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HORSES MUST BE PLACED AS FOLLOWS -

OPEN - 1st in two qualifiers.
Both wins must be in the open section with 66% or more.

RESTRICTED - 1st in two qualifiers.
Both wins must be in the restricted section with 65% or more.

Horses who have started Inter 1 classes or above may not compete in Novice - Medium Qualifiers (unless they have been downgraded.)

At Elementary -

As for Novice except -
Group 2A riders are eligable.

OPEN -
1st in two qualifiers at 66% or more.

RESTRICTED -
1st in two qualifiers at 64% or more.

Medium -

as Novice except
Group 1 & 2a riders are eligible.

OPEN
1st in two qualifiers with 63% or more.

RESTRICTED
1st in two qualifiers with 63% or more.

Q2 - How can you qualify for the Area Festivals?

Qualifying for Area Festivals is between August and October inclusive.

Tests are from Prelim to Prix St George, with restricted and open sections from Novice to Advanced Medium.

Freestyle to Music qualifiers are held at the Areas.

Area Festivals carry grading points but only count as qualifiers to the Festival Finals.

Open only to individual qualifed combinations.

Once qualified combinations can ride at the festivals even if they upgrade.

COMBINATIONS COMPETITING AT THE WINTER/SUMMER REGIONALS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPETE AT THE SAME LEVEL OR BELOW AT ANY AREA FESTIVAL (example - qualified and riding at the regionals at Novice can only ride at the Areas at Elementary or above) WITH THE EXCEPTION OF FREESTYLE CLASSES WHERE RIDING AT THE WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS OR WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP THEY FORFIT AREA FESTIVAL COMPETITION.

QUALIFICATION -
to be gained between 1st Jan and up until the closing date of entries for the Festivals.

Preliminary to Elementary - 2 affiliated score of 62% and above at the same level.

Medium - PSG - 2 affiliated scores of 60% and above at the same level.


Q3 - What are the cut off dates?

The cut off dates for qualification for Summer / Winter regionals are
01 Dec 07 - 30 Jun 08 Qualification for the Summer Regionals 2008
01 Jul 08 - 30 Nov 08 - Qualification for Winter Regionals 2009
01 Jan - 31 Dec 2088 - Qualification for Winter Music Regionals 2009

Q4 - What is the O & the R in Preliminary section?

Open Section - these tests are open to anyone, member or non member, registered or non registered horses, horse to have not won 49 or more points.
Open sections are NOT qualifers for Winter/Summer Regionals.

Restricted - those who are eligable to qualify for the Winter / Summer Regionals.These are members of Bd riding registered or unregistered horses. Group 7/8 riders.

Preliminary classes carry no grading points.
Full registration needed before the Summer / Winter Regionals.
